You are a member of the POA if you own property in the KEYS subdivisions. Membership is not discretionary, there are documents recorded on the title of your property that determines if you are a member or not.  The POA maintains a fleet of algae boats and provides other services that would otherwise not exist. The annual membership assessment is $70.00 per year is adjusted annually per the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Here are some important facts about the POA:
  • Membership in the POA entitles you to vote on issues affecting your property and entitles you to select the Directors who represent you.
  • The Board of Directors meets on the 3rd Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September, November, starting at 5:00 pm at the Clear Lake Keys Clubhouse, 12980 Lakeland Street, Clearlake Oaks. The meeting is open to the property owners. Click the link on the home page for a schedule of meeting dates.
  • A general membership meeting is held four times a year.
  • We have an established a Neighborhood Watch program and a link on the home page to sign up for Neighborhood Watch email notifications.
  • We maintain a website that provides timely information about events and issues.
  • Watch for information about trash clean-up days.
  • We maintain a fleet of 4 algae boats that operate six or more months during the year to keep the 6 1/2 miles of canals free of algae and other undesirable vegetation.
  • We have rights to a private boat ramp.
  • When water level permits, we sponsor a Fourth of July Boat Parade

Unlike large metropolitan areas, all services, such as maintenance of the canals and POA records and certifications to Title companies to allow close of escrow when a property is sold, must be performed by volunteers, and must be funded by the annual assessment and contributions. For this reason, as a property owner, you can help protect your investment by becoming active in the POA.
